Question: Water is equally disturbed by fish swimming peacefully within it, as by trash being dumped into it. What I mean is: The water itself is not affected by either situation. The body of water is affected; the medium of the water is the
same. Is this what it means to have the clear, dispassionate mind?
As a somewhat agnostic believer (because I have a hard time with religions generally although not necessarily with faith), I have often wondered about water because it strikes me that if God is life and is present wherever there is life, if God can shape worlds and move mountains, then perhaps water might be the medium through which God is channelled. Water is hydrogen and oxygen, the two most abundant elements in the universe, and is the basis of all that there is. I’m not even sure where I’m going with this but I think perhaps it might have been what Mr Mister were singing about here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyyqqT0C6o0
Hmmmm, you always have such interesting comments — your mind must be quite the entertaining place;)
Water has certainly lent (lended?) itself to spiritual metaphors, so it’s potent symbolically — >> I suppose it IS a medium for the channeling of “god”…….hmmmm……….. (I’d never heard Mr. Mister before — I liked that song:)
Interesting question, I must ponder it a while.
Well do let me know what you decide
