Tornado morphs into free ice cream!

So, Dad & I decided we wanted some ice cream. No, we needed some ice cream, & as I gathered the car keys to go get some, he added a request for some pie. I drove on down the road, blasting the radio & enjoying the promise-of-rainstorm-cool air coming through the open windows.

Within minutes, I was pulling into Braum’s parking lot, & then was strolling through the goodies aisles, trying to decide which ice cream was preferable. Suddenly, an announcement sounded through the store: “A tornado is on the ground a mile away! All staff & customers into the cooler ….. now!!” As they herded us into the cold storage unit, the manager even handed out little jackets for us to wear, LOL.Storm

During the few minutes we were in there, I talked with some of the kids, all who claimed they were not scared & didn’t mind being cold as they ate their ice cream. Afterwards, I finished my shopping & went up to the counter, where I was asked: “Would you like a free double-dip ice cream cone??” “Do I look like I’m stupid?!” As I stood in the parking lot eating it, I entertained myself trying to get a picture of the storm off in the distance.

Turns out only very minor damage was done, & only one person was injured — nothing like the tragedies of the massive tornado in Moore, OK a few days ago. Blessedly. All in all, the whole thing was actually a pretty good experience, as these things go, hahahahahahaha …….

'Wisdom of the ordinary' is how the old school Zen Masters would put It. Simply life as it is. Right now. Infuriating to understand or grasp intellectually, the way of meditation is mysteriously simple. Just seeing things as they are. As it turns out sanity is not to be found in conforming to the correct idea of reality but instead in the direct experience of the basic sanity within awareness.

Very nice explication of what meditation 'does'. I love the idea of 'slowing going sane' --- that perfectly expresses what I've been going through over the last few years!
